This is the stern and the poop of the Dawn Treader. It took me more than a week to learn as much as I could about historical ship building, but it was too late to get what I needed.

The making of this picture is another story—every time I thought I had put the pieces together, I had to refer to the book and admit I got it all wrong. Like the following: it took me *time* to envision and compose the beautiful dragon tail on the poop, only to learn that actually it was no longer there at that time! (why? you'll know after you read the “Journey of the Dawn Treader”). The funny thing is that there are quite many pictures showing the Dawn Treader sailing the Last Sea with the dragon tail still there! [Pigment pen, PITT artist pens; Oct. 2004 ]
